Feast or Famine

I have found that it is feast or famine here!!! They either have nothing for me or they load me up so much that there isn't even potty time - ha ha!! This week, it has been the later. The bad thing is they have been short runs. They absolutely exhaust me. Today - uh yesterday (it is 3am as I write this) I had two jobs, that is picking up at two places and delivering at two different places and driving the distance between. I came within 20 minutes of hitting/exceeding my 14 hour day. Coming that close is unnerving to me. I can't take the stress of playing beat the clock. There are so many things that could go wrong that are totally out of my control. Tonight it was Washington DC traffic! Yep, I left VA at 5pm headed to MD. Had to go square through DC. Heavens!! What a mess that place is. 5 and 6 lanes in both directions plus HOV lanes. Nothing but a sea of vehicles! Fortunately for me, I knew exactly where I was going. Had this been my first time in Hagerstown MD, I probably would have been in trouble and had to park without making the last delivery. Major prayers got me here and parked that mammoth trailer without a hitch!!!

My next job is taking me to Queensbury NY. I don't have to pick up until 9pm but will be driving all night to make a 7am delivery. I really hate the night driving. Just can't see as well. Thankfully, the traffic is greatly reduced. I hope to be able to rest up before the trip, however, not starting out too great. I am so tired - can't sleep.

I stayed in Toms Brook VA last night. The truck parked next to me had two cats in it!! I have not seen anyone with cats before! They were sitting on the dash just watching all the trucks. When they saw me, they just stared. I think they knew I wanted a hug!!! HA HA HA!!! I had considered bringing my little girl Chumie. I know she would be a great companion, but this truck is so tiny, don't know where I would put her liter box. Details I know. The bigger picture is the precious little girl would give me hugs when I need them. Right now I have my little pink pig to hug - ha ha ha!!!

Okay - you probably wonder what a grown woman is doing with a "pink pig"! :-) I found this perfectly round pink pig in one of the Truck stops. He is so squishy I just knew he would be great to prop up against when I am sitting on the bed working with my computer, knitting or reading. And sure enough, he is GREAT. He also is a "hugger". HA HA. Or is that a "huggie"?? Guess I am the "hugger". - Wow, is it late or what??? HA HA HA!!

Going to end this crazy post - until next time - hopefully I will have more interesting things to write about - keeping it between the lines................

  1. Hi sweet Tammy: You have more courage then I do to drive in some of those places. Glad to see they are using you and hope you get more long runs. As you travel remember our prayers are with you. Have a great run. Love you Papa Gene

  2. 6 lanes on the DC Beltway - oh mama. It makes one cringe to even think about it. Driving in a car is bad enough, can't even fathom driving an 18-wheeler through that mess. You must have nerves of steel. Who ever knew when you were playingi Barbe dolls with your sisters that you had this in mind. If anyone can keep it between the lines you can - prayers ascend to the throne of grace & the mercy seat. The promise is. "Where 2 or more are gathered together, I will hear & I will answer - whatsoever is bound on earth is bound in heaven." God has heard your prayers and all the prayers of those who love you - His hand is guiding you all the way. I love you to the moon & back, Mom
